Wilhelm Levi (1883 - 1938)
Wilhelm Levi was born on June 19th, 1883 in Breisach as son of the butcher Raphael Levi and his wife Dusette née Hermerdinger ◊.
On March 8th, 1924 he married Regina Weil (1893 - 1935), a daughter of the butcher Gustav Weil and his wife Mathilde née Menges ◊.
The couple had two children, Ruth (*1925) and Günther Raphael (*1926). After their father's death they were both sent to Switzerland in April 1939 where they survived. Günter was adopted by an elderly lady and lived as a learned watchmaker under her name. Ruth first worked as a kitchen maid, later in the watch making industry. ◊.
Wilhelm was a learned butcher, but due to an accident he later worked as a „Fellhändler” (fur trader) ◊.
Wilhelm Levi died on June 1th, 1938 in Breisach. The entry for his death is very uncommon: no place of death is given and everything was to be reported back to the „Oberstaatsanwalt” ◊. From this we infer that the death was not a natural one, but we are still searching for details.
There is no entry in the Memorial Book for Wilhelm Levi.
